From the 20th April to the 30th June 2012, a photographic exhibition entitled “Paris 1889, the Universal Exposition: the Eiffel Tower is born”, promoted by Fondazione Sorgente Group, was made open to the public in Galleria Colonna. The photographic exhibition was further enriched by a symbolic piece: an original part of the helical staircase which connected the second and the third floor of the Eiffel Tower which was acquired by the Foundation and for this occasion collocated in the Galleria Colonna.
The staircase of the Tower was the ideal springboard for an upturn, in the past as in the present. The Eiffel Tower and its staircase today represent the idea of ascent and progress. During the presentation of the photographic exhibition and of the staircase, the Mayor of Rome Gianni Alemanno, personally bestowed to Paola Mainetti the prize “Venere Capitolina”.
